Oxbow is off to the copy editor!

Book number two is one big step closer to hitting the shelves. Today I turned in the manuscript for copy edits.

This book follows two kids from the Oxbow Willows Trailer Park as they grow up. It’s a tomboy for tomboy love story set primarily in 1990s rural Iowa.

It’s also a chance to see Coltswood again in her role as art professor a few years before Wolf comes back into her life. I can’t wait for you all to meet these kids and see them thrive against the odds.

Coltswood in Chicago.

L and I took a trip to Chicago for the Dyke March which took place in the beautiful Pilsen neighborhood. What a thrill it was to be part of the March’s return after a multi-year hiatus. Members of ACT UP helped kick off the rally and it was heartening to see so many young people thinking about and wanting to learn more about the history of the AIDS movement, and the ongoing struggles.

During the post-march festivities, I handed out some books and I hope those readers of the Dyke March will enjoy getting to know Wolf and Bel.

The next day we walked down Belmont in search of Unabridged Bookstore, an LGBTQ+ bookstore that has been in the community for 45 years. The store was everything we hoped for. A large collection of books and great vibes. Unabridged also gave me the opportunity to see Coltswood in the wild for the very first time!

It felt strangely fitting. Chicago is an important place in Coltswood’s story even if it doesn’t appear in the novel. There’s a short story in the back of my mind that I will write someday and share with you all.

Happy Pride!

Happy Pride!

Pride month is off to a great start here. I’ve been wrapping up edits on Oxbow (available from Bywater Books in January 2027) and sharing Coltswood with folks at various LGBTQ+ events.

I’m so pleased that readers have been finding Coltswood and Wolf.

Delighted to announce that the very talented Abby Craden has brought Coltswood to life in an audiobook published by Tantor Media, Inc.

Coltswood is now available wherever audiobooks are sold. I personally love Libro.fm for they way they support Independent bookstores.

Feast your eyes on Nik and Ro from my short story “Make Me a Sword”!

These beautiful images were produced by the enormously talented Ren Strapp.

The By Her Sword anthology is no longer on KU but is still available wherever books are sold.

Home from GCLS in Albany! It was a coffee & whiskey fueled immersion in the Sapphic Lit community. Authors, readers, reviewers, publishers, editors, and content creators mingled. The workshops and panels were informative. The karaoke and chaos amusing.

I got to chat with comrades and collaborators, spend time with some of my favorite authors, meet new friends. I even managed to write around 4k words while I was there.

Here’s a pic of me wandering the city (thanks, Captain).

My short story “Make Me a Sword” will be available in June 2025 as part of the sword-wielding sapphic anthology By Her Sword (Sunset Wave Press). If you’ve ever wondered what a medieval combat re-enactor, a mischievous fae, and a talented vampire might get up to after dark, this story is for you.
